Clown Statues and Figurines

Don’t be shy about adding clown statues and figurines to your home accents. They definitely add a touch of interest to your home accesories. I use them much like I use garden gnomes. I love to tuck clown statues among my summer flowers. It surprises people and makes them laugh. All the better if the clown statue has a big flower pin – that in real life would probably squirt water at you or another clown! I always tell people the clowns are out hunting for more joke corsages.

You can also tuck them in the woodpile beside your fireplace. I always say things like he’s escaped from the circus. Of couse I forget all of these clown statues (and quite frankly other figurines and statues as well), when small children come to visit, we have to keep a close eye on them. Not so much for the statues and figurines, but we don’t want any small child getting cut on broken pieces – or God forbid putting them in their mouths.

Sometimes I have to organize search parties and give a prize to the guest who finds the most figurines. It is a fun scavenger hunt! Maybe someday I’ll get organized and keep a list of where I put things. But truly I doubt that day will ever come.

Are Child Pageants Abusive?

I’ve heard more than a few anti-pageant folks accusing pageant moms of child abuse. Are child pageants and toddler pageants abusing young children? I really don’t think so, but I would never say that with 100% certainty because there are always extreme circumstances with anything. I do not, however, believe that the pageants themselves are abusive, in general.

The parent or parents who enter their child in pageants are the ones who are responsible for the experiences. Toddler pageants can be a lot of fun for little girls and little boys, but it’s up to the parents to make this happen. Some parents involved with child pageants can be cutthroat competitors and will do anything to ensure a big win for their child. What do these pageant parents think they’re teaching their kids? These parents take it out on their own kids when they don’t win or if they don’t perform perfectly on stage. Sometimes it’s obvious to everyone that the child hates competing in pageants, and it’s certainly understandable how they came to feel this way. Parents like the ones mentioned aren’t into pageantry for their children – they’re doing it for themselves. In my opinion, this is when there’s a problem with child pageants and toddler pageants!

Green Planners for 2012

Are you one of those people who needs to carry around a planner even though it may not be the greenest way of living?  If that is the case, you will be glad to know that you can find many options for 2012 planners that are eco-friendly enough to soothe your conscience.

Many people like to write things down, and that means having a planner to write them in.

Of course, the best choice may be to learn to use your planner on your cell phone or iPad, however, if you need a new planner so that you can keep regular written notes, and plans in pen, and just aren’t thrilled with the high tech choices, you can find several sized planners that are made out of sustainable materials, and recycled materials.

Planning is one way of being eco-friendly, and if you plan well, you will use less resources than you consume with the use of one eco green planner, so you just need to browse the sustainable and recycled material planners to determine which is the best one for you.

To be honest, there aren’t many papers that are produced anymore, that aren’t partially made from recycled materials, so even the non green calendars, are greener than they used to be.
